Birthday photoshoot

Long time no see!

Life has kept me busy with living - days been filled with beautiful outdoor adventures and changes in my main job within travel industry. But it’s been good and I truly enjoy how days are getting longer and longer than previously. It gets dark like at 8:30 pm here in Vancouver, which is AMAZING.

I just wanted to come here to say quick hello and also share few shots from previous weeks. I was honored to take birthday photographs of this beautiful girl who turned 12. In the family’s culture turning 12 means transformation to being a woman and the goal of the photoshoot was to capture this, while keeping girl’s own, unique personality in mind.

We did photoshoot in few different locations, which really challenged my creativity in a good way - finding different spots to do the shooting is something that I truly enjoy, as well as doing photoshoots outdoors. Natural light might be unpredictable, but what comes to April, it’s been blessed with gentle light.

Our first photoshoot was mainly planned around birthday girl’s gorgeous pink dress and matching blossoms, which we found in North Vancouver. As I’m also obsessed with cityscapes, we did few shots with city vibes as well and her black bomber jacket looked so stylish!

By the way this girl was quickly giving such a professional poses that all I needed to do was simply capture the moment!

Our next location was in West Vancouver, Ambleside Beach where we played around quite a bit with different outfits and poses. It was surprisingly warm, although wind came around to tease us a bit, but movement kept us warm in the end.

By the way as you may notice from the photographs, this girl is natural with gymnastics & volleyball - we had so much fun trying capture the movement! Capturing sporty movement was also a good challenge to myself as I’m not use to taking these types of pictures. But I actually really enjoyed it and would really love to be engaged more in these types of photoshoots.

Looking back to these photos I just go back to the memories with this family - quickly they made me feel like I was part of their group. We had so much fun and I’m so honored to been given the opportunity to capture these moments for them.

But now I’m off to celebrate Mr. Husband’s birthday - I’m trying to do outdoor/travel post next! Chat soon. :)

x Krista
