Photo memories from Finland
Oh boy, being back in Finland after being 9 months away hit different.
Obviously 10 days were extremely busy while trying to catch up with friends & family, but it was all worth it.
Experiencing fresh summer days as a visitor instead of living the daily life in a country I used to call my home offered a new perspective. Obviously I still can and will call Finland my home base - no matter where I am, Finland will always hold a special place in my heart. All the memories, growing pains while growing up… those can never be rewritten.
This year the weather was colder, which surprised me, and served more rain, but luckily Vancouver has made me quite all right with rain. We also got plenty of sunny days within those 10 days and even the rainy days did not feel too cold. Okay, midsummer breeze was freezing, I can’t lie about that, but the wind calmed down the closer the night came.

I spent most of the 10 days on the west coast of Finland, where most of my family live. We also had a big doctoral celebration, and it felt funny to put on a fancy dress and heels in a city we used to live, but spent night over my husband’s sister place instead of unlocking my own home door.
Other spot that mesmerized me more than before was Yyteri, this stunning beach located near by Pori (about 4-5 hours drive to the west from Helsinki). The beach was so empty thanks to the windy weather, but it was so so stunning. And also hit me with multiple memories, such as staying over my friend’s cabin during summer and staying up until sunrise.

To be honest this is the most Finnish beach photo I have ever taken - like it’s gorgeous but cold :D
If you would like to do a road trip of the places I visited in 10 days, it would simply go Helsinki - Salo - Turku - Pori - Sastamala - Helsinki. But in 10 days you could experience other places as well along the way, although I would recommend staying at least 3 days in Turku. Call me biased as I have lived there for 8 years, but it’s the most beautiful summer city in Finland if you ask me.
Here you can see glimpse of Turku behind me haha.
Oh Finland - hope to see you again next summer.
