If you are looking for a storybook-like village and you happen to be somewhat near to Vancouver and are okay to drive a bit, look no more - Fort Langley is your place to be. Located approximately 48 kilometers from downtown Vancouver, Fort Langley feels very welcomed escape from bigger metropolitan streets (although the streets are still super busy, as it’s also locals favorite hot spot). Fort Langley is actually known as the birthplace of British Columbia where the colony was proclaimed in 1858 so perfect location for history enthusiasts as well.

When planning a trip to Fort Langley, I would recommend arriving early to make sure you find parking and allow yourself spend at least few hours exploring the small boutique shops, cafes and simply admiring the colourful buildings. If you are one of those who enjoy history, make sure to visit Fort Langley National Historic Site -19th-century Hudson’s Bay Company fur-trading post. It’s an interesting spot also for families as there are games younger ones can play and historic site occasionally hosts even events which are family friendly.

If you are keen into TV-shows and movies, you might want to do a self-guided tour around the town based on the filming spots such as Supernatural, Once Upon a Time and The Vampire Diaries. Close to Fort Langley you can also find Merry & Bright Martini Town during the winter season, which allows you to step into a Hallmark Christmas Movie set. I have not yet visited this spot, but hopefully this year - it looks magical!
