Short & sweet, but technical hike - Jurassic Ridge, BC
Looking for a hike that is distance-wise short and sweet, but has technical parts to keep everything interesting? Well, if you happen to be in British Columbia and somewhat near by Squamish look no more - head to Jurassic Ridge!
Quick facts, if you are in a rush:
Located in Murrin Provincial Park, around 45 minutes from Vancouver
Paid parking
3,1 kilometres loop, can be done either way around
Not long distance-wise, but technical - there will be ropes and your balance will be tested
Typically takes 2 hours to complete
Longer story:
Jurassic Ridge is located in Murrin Provincial Park, close to Squamish (around 45 minute drive from Vancouver). This trail might not be long distance-wise, ‘only’ 3,1 kilometres, but don’t let the length fool you - it will still take time to go through. The path is technical, including some ropes and you really need to watch your step. I think that for us it took around 2 hours to complete, but back in March I was also 7th month pregnant so I really had to watch my step.
You can do the hike either way around. We heard it would be better to do it counter-clockwise and so we did it that way. But to be honest I would recommend doing it other way around, especially if you find it easier to climb up than down like I do.
The hike itself offers multiple viewpoints and outside of hiking, the area is a popular climbing & BBQ spot (there is a lake at the beginning, so you can also have your paddle board with you). So if you have some time to spend, it’s easy to do this spot a full day trip!

This post was short and sweet like the hike - have you done Jurassic Ridge or is it on your bucket list?
Until next hike,
